Deanery confirmation service with Bishop Andy
Sunday 11th June 2023 hosted at St. Marys
A Testimony from Andrew Smith following his recent confirmation:
My wife and daughter had been attending St Mary's Church for about 3 years, I had always dropped them off at church and then go home. My wife would ask if I wanted to go to church but I always said no, it wasn't for me.
I saw that my wife and daughter were coming home from church and they were happy - church seemed to have made a difference! After a while I decided, when I was dropping them off at church, that I was going to see what it was all about!
The first service that I attended, I'm sure it was meant to be, the sun shone through the church blinds and was just shining on me! My wife had noticed it too, everything in the sermon made sense to me. It was like it was about my life. I had always felt that I wasn't good enough to be in church due to past life choices and decisions. The sermon made me feel like I was worthy to be there and I felt God's presence and love right there and then.
I've been attending church ever since and in January this year I was baptised!
